In 1963 Cities Service heavily promoted this giant toy as an incentive to buy gasoline at their stations.
It was advertised at $3.98 and included a red take-a-part sports sedan and a metal oil can bank.
The front door emblem was a stick-on paper label whereas both trailer sides were nicely embossed
with the Cities Service logo. Although attractive, this truck was almost toooo big.
The cab could be tilted forward to gain access to the engine and the cab interior. The cab was held in
place by a lock-down lever which frequently broke off after a bit of play time.
Another weak point was the trailer rear door. Because of warpage it was hard to open all the way. It
would stick in the horizontal position and any extra pressure would break off one of the plastic hinges.
Each truck came with a red sports sedan with do-it-yourself assembly required. The metal coin bank
featured the Cities Service logo in gold and white.
